Wings win big; Godbout relieved of duties
The Carleton Tavern Wings got back in the win column last night after a convincing 9-3 win over the Beer Downskis. The Wings got five goals from Hartmann, two from Needham, and one each from Godbout and McLennan, while Matt Sharron dished out 4 assists.
It wasn’t all good news for the Wings however, as Mike Godbout was relieved of his coaching duties shortly before the game. Mike Hartmann took over on an interim basis and by the looks of things, the players responded.

“I think it’s what best for the team at this point,” said Godbout. “Between coaching, playing and being the GM, I was just worn out. I know Hartmann will do a great job.”
Hartmann took no time in making some changes to the lineup, shaking up the top two lines and swapping Mitch Ethier to defence and Godbout up to the wing.
“Mike [Godbout] has some great offensive instincts and I wanted to get him out there on the wing,” explained Hartmann. “He struggled a bit last game when trying to avoid falling down at the blueline, so I wanted him to get some confidence back.”
Godbout wasted no time impressing his new coach, scoring less than a minute into the game.
“I feel better about my game now. All thanks to Spike,” gushed Godbout. “Is there anything he can’t do?”
So far the answer to that question is a resounding “No”.
