Wings stage comeback to remain undefeated, improve to 6-0
The Wings had their first game in division 13 last night and they did not disappoint.
Already down center Mike Hartmann, the Wings were dealt another blow as star winger Matt Sharron was a late scratch due to COVID protocols.
“We knew we would be missing Hartmann, which is already tough. On any given night, he is one of our top two centers,” said captain Matt Deline. “Then with the news of Sharron being out as well, we knew we would have to dig deep.”
And dig deep they did. After falling behind 3-0, recent callup Roger Needham scored a highlight reel goal to kick off the comeback. The Wings outscored the O’Gradys 6-1 the rest of the way to make the final 6-4.
“It shows the depth of our organization and the strength of our scouting department that we are able to call up people like Matt and Roger and have them contribute right away,” said GM Godbout.
The team also got some good news as it was reported that Sharron was released from COVID protocols this morning and will join the team on their upcoming road trip. Hartmann is still waiting for a second negative test and hopes to join the team soon as well.
The Wings next game is November 5th against the last place Diggers.
