Wings score in the last minute to earn a point against the pesky Ponies
The Wings managed to walk away with a point on the road after tying up the game late in the last minute with the goalie pulled.
“It was a tight game all night long,” said Wings winger Mark Hamad. “Both goalies played great so we knew it was going to be a low scoring game.”
The Wings jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after Machon banged in a rebound from his office in front of the net. The Ponies would answer with two straight goals, the last one coming with only 2 minutes to play.
“We never lost faith. We know what kind of team we have here and I was confident we would tie it up,” said captain Matt Deline.
Sure enough, with backup goalie Nails on the bench, Dustin Harris tipped home a shot to tie the game in the final minute and earn the Wings a key point.
“These are the type of games that really bring a team together. We knew this was going to be a tough game, going into their barn with a short bench, but we managed to come away with the point and that’s huge for us,” said Machon.
Roger Needham was a late scratch due to illness, Mitch Ethier was also not in the lineup after contracting Mexican Covid and Jamie McLennan was a healthy scratch.
