Wings officially pull out of Olympics
Breaking news today from Div 13 as the Carleton Tavern Wings have officially opted out of the 2022 Olympics.
After the NHL pulled out, all eyes were on the CAHL and the Wings to fill the spots for Canada.
“We feel at this time we must prioritize the health and safety of our players and their families,” said GM Mike Godbout. “While we know the fans would love to see us out there, we feel this is the right decision.”
With COVID shutting down the league right now, many of the players were hoping to get back on the ice next month in Beijing.
All the players on the team, with the exception of Ross Machon, were reportedly given offers to represent their country at the games.
“It sucks to be honest. I’ve never been to the Olympics and was looking forward to it,” said winger Mitch Ethier. “Guess its back to hot dogs and crypto.”
