Wings keep rolling, crush Les Gaulois in a chippy affair

The Wings perfect season continued Sunday night after a gutsy 7-1 win against the upstart Gaulois.

Missing a few key players, GM Godbout once again showed his scouting prowess as call-up Roger Needham carried the team to victory with a hat trick and one assist.

“If Roger keeps playing like that, it’s going to be very hard to not keep him up here with the big club,” said Godbout. “He’s a modern day Christoph Shubert.”

The game had a few tense moments as well as tempers flared between the two clubs once the game was out of hand. Both Machon and Hartmann received coincidental roughing penalties late in the game after a few scrums broke out along the boards.

Machon made good use of his height and dad bod to push a Gaulois player to the ground after taking what he felt was an unnecessary hit late in the game.

“The game was basically over at that point and I got frustrated,” said Ross “The Monster” Machon. “I’m always going to stick up for myself and my teammates.”

The Wings are back at it on Saturday as part of Hockey Night in Carleton as they take on the third place Bulldogs.
