Wings grind out another victory

The Carleton Tavern Wings were short players for a Friday night tilt with long time rivals The Mooseheads, but that didn’t stop the pesky Wings from coming away with a hard earned 3-1 win.

Two defenseman were called up to play their first game for the Wings, “Pager” and James Tourigny.

“It’s a credit to our amateur scouting system to find these guys that can jump right into the lineup and not look out of place at all. It’s not easy to adjust to the pace of the CAHL game, but I thought both of them looked great tonight,” said GM Mike Godbout.

With the game deadlocked at 1-1 late in the third, Tourigny swung into the slot and buried a snap shot five hole for the game winner.

“It’s always exciting to get your first goal in the big leagues. It’s something I’ll remember for the rest of my life,” said Tourigny.

Harris would go on to add a late insurance goal, set up by Machon and Ethier. Machon finished with a goal and an assist and Alec Casey was solid in goal as always, turning aside 29 of 30 shots. The Wings have a bit of a break until their next game on February 8th. Plenty of good seats still available.
