The Wings are off to a strong start.

They picked up their first win of the season last night, beating the Peashooters 2-0 to move to 1-0-1 on the year and into first place in the standings.

Hartmann provided all the offence, scoring both Wings goals on two beautiful set ups by Harris who is up to four assists in the first two games of the season.

At the other end, Alec Casey was the difference maker. Casey stopped all 32 shots he faced to record the shutout and give the Wings their first clean sheet of the season. “I was seeing all the pucks tonight, so big shoutout to my D for boxing guys out and clearing pucks.”

“We just played a solid game,” said Wings defenceman Rick Shean. “Everyone was doing their job, we got pucks out when we needed to and Casey made the saves. That’s what it takes to win hockey games. It’s like when you’re building a house: you have a blueprint you need to follow, whether that’s an A-frame, B-frame, whatever. You have a plan and you stick to it, and that’s what we did tonight.”

The win also marked the first game for Andrew Tweedy on the first line after earning a promotion.

“I’m just trying to make the most of it,” said Tweedy. “Obviously it’s nice to get moved up, but I’ve still got to go out there and earn it. I’m really working on holding onto my stick better with my small hands. It’s a work in progress, but I’m making strides.”

Tweedy finished the night a plus 2 with 2 shots on goal.

The Wings will look to keep the momentum going as they sit alone at the top of the standings with a 1-0-1 record. Plenty of tickets still available for the matchup on the 20th.
