Wings GM MG had his busiest off-season in years, reshaping the roster ahead of the anticipated September opening

The Wings made headlines this off-season, and their GM has once again shown that he’s not interested in sitting on his hands while the competition gets stronger.

In a surprise move, blueline stalwart Pat “Salmon Arm” Liotti will be stepping away from the team to focus on not getting food poisoning weekly. He will continue to skate with TNH and plans to return to the Wings once his kids can tie their own shoes.

“It’s a huge loss for our team. Pat is a unique player, he’s tenacious and respected by forwards across the league. But he sure does puke a lot.” said GM MG

The Wings were known for having one of the strongest top-six D corps in the league, so Liotti’s departure leaves a significant gap on the blue line. But where there is a gap, there is also opportunity—and thanks to years of shrewd recruiting and player development, the Wings have no shortage of options. Just one more reason GM MG is a perennial candidate and frequent winner of the annual GM of the Year award.

Two New Acquisitions

The Wings made two significant additions this off-season.

First, free agent Andrew Tweedy was signed to a three-year deal. Tweedy, who is known for his tiny hands, previously led the Frosty Lamas in good vibes and offsides. We’re thrilled to bring in a player of this caliber who will immediately energize our group.

The ever-opportunistic Wings also took advantage of uncertainty surrounding the Millionaires and successfully offer-sheeted versatile forward/D Josh Bednar. The deal will cost them three first-round picks, but GM MG was unphased.

“Who cares about picks? That’s the next GM’s problem. We’ve got a CAHL-ready player who can eat up huge minutes and immediately impact the game.”

The acquisition of Bednar and Tiny Hands Tweedy gives the Wings versatility and options capable of contributing at both ends of the ice, and perhaps most importantly, 2 glue guys in the room.

More Moves Coming?

Despite an already active off-season, the work may not be finished.

“We’re never done tinkering.” – GM MG

GM MG refused to comment further, but insiders continue to speculate about interest in veteran D Chris Page, whose status remains uncertain. There’s no doubt Pager would have a big impact both on and off the ice should he become available.

The schedule has not yet been released, but the Wings are anticipated to kick-off the season in early September in a new division.
