The Carleton Tavern Wings settled for a tie on Friday night in what turned out to another spicy game. A total of 124 penalty minutes were handed out including a 7 minute major and game misconduct to star center Dustin Harris. Harris finished the game with a goal and assist and 17 minutes in penalties.

The play occurred with less than ten minutes left in the game as Harris cut in around a Spartan defender, but ended up crashing into the goaltender. The Wings maintain Harris was pushed into the goalie, but the referees disagreed.

“I think it was the wrong call if I’m honest,” said GM Mike Godbout. “But I understand the league needs to protect the goalies.”

The Wings would spend the rest of the game shorthanded and the Spartans would end up tying the game in final minute after the Wings were put down another man due to a Hartmann slashing call.

“We need Harris and Hartmann to score, not be in the box,” said veteran Ross Machon, who had one of the four goals (Machon has also reportedly changed stick companies as well. The long time Sherwood athlete has signed a new deal with True Hockey).

As of now, it looks as though Harris will avoid any supplemental discipline for the major penalty and will be good to go on Monday when the Wings take on the Loggers.

In a related story, there are rumours floating around that the Wings could be facing some discipline from the CAHL for a botched trade in 2021 involving defenceman Glen Sloan and GM Godbout not disclosing his no trade list. Stay tuned for updates.
